A Week of Winter

Brrrrrrr!

It is cold outside! I am too busy most days to fish. There is always some work to be done. But still, I like to think about fishing. I like to think that if I escaped from behind my desk and found myself on a river or pond, there would be fish to find. It dampens my mood to know that fish aren't biting, even if I am not throwing flies to them. And so I bide my time daydreaming of warmer days, casting on the lawn, and tying up minnow imitations.

We are lucky in South Carolina. Weeks like this are not the norm. Some winter days peak into the upper 60s and 70s. These are the days to hit the water. The fish are hungry and ready to eat. They take advantage of that warm weather just like we do. If you want to catch a trophy largemouth, you can't beat a warm winter day.

In the meantime, I will let my imagination run wild. And I will keep working on plans for our first summer of camps. There will be plenty of warm days to chase fish and have fun.
